Persian Gulf Gas Power Plant

The Persian Gulf Gas Power Plant is located 45 kilometers northeast of Bandar Abbas in the Qaleh Qazi area, on a site with an approximate area of 1,065,000 square meters. The plant consists of six gas turbine units of the GT13E2 type manufactured by Alstom, which were commissioned for the first time within Iran’s Ministry of Energy.

The nominal capacity of each unit is 165 megawatts, resulting in a total generation capacity of about 990 megawatts supplied to the national electricity grid of Iran. Each turbine unit includes a compressor, a combustion chamber, and a gas turbine, all connected by a common shaft and coupled with a synchronous generator. The temperature of the gas entering the turbine from the combustion chamber is approximately 1,100°C, while the exhaust gas temperature leaving the turbine is about 550°C.

The power plant operates on natural gas and diesel fuel. Natural gas is used as the primary fuel, while diesel serves as the backup fuel. The required gas is supplied through a 16 inch pipeline from the Sarkhun Gas Refinery. The gas consumption at base load for each unit is approximately 45,000 cubic meters per hour.
