Karagan Desalination Plant

The Gorgan Desalination Plant, based on Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) technology, has been established to supply potable and industrial water to the Minab region and to support the water requirements of industrial complexes, including petrochemical facilities. The project has been planned in two phases: the first phase, with a capacity of 2,500 cubic meters per day, has been completed and put into operation, and the completion of the second phase will increase the total capacity to 5,000 cubic meters per day. Concurrently with project implementation, studies on water supply sources—including intake, abstraction, water quality, and resource sustainability—have been conducted for the Khorasan Petrochemical Complex.

The key objectives of this project include:

• Providing a sustainable and high quality water supply in order to reduce regional water shortages.

• Supporting the process and consumption water needs of industrial complexes in the region, including petrochemical plants.

• Implementing SWRO technology with a focus on energy efficiency and reducing operational costs.

• Establishing sustainable infrastructure for future development, capacity expansion, and connection to the local distribution network.
