Ofoq Tamin Energy Toos Company owns more than 99 percent of the shares of the Toos Power Plant and is responsible for its management.

The Toos Power Plant, with four 150 megawatt steam units, is one of the country’s distinguished power plants and among the largest electricity generation centers in Razavi Khorasan Province. The plant is located 12 kilometers northwest of Mashhad, at the foothills of the Binalud mountains and near the city of Toos. Construction of the Toos steam power plant began in 1982, with the first unit commissioned in November 1985 and the remaining units brought into operation by the end of 1987.

A prominent feature of this power plant is the use of an air cooled condenser, which replaces water with air as the cooling medium for steam, resulting in significant savings in water consumption. With a capacity of 600 megawatts, the plant supplies 1.8% of the country’s total electricity and 18% of the electricity required in Razavi Khorasan Province.
